You Wanted the Best? You Got The Best!
And how it all went down-
Super Swamper started back in 2005. Clint came to Todd to spend $1000 in the Garudio to record some of his songs. Todd, after hearing some of Clint’s stuff asked if he’d be interested in starting a band. Clint, being the gentleman he is, said “Well Fuck Yeah!” So Todd recruited me, Wil, to play guitar. Funny thing, Mark wasn’t the first bass player, nor the last… It’s not very well known that a certain Johny Smink was the first bass player. He played for the first two months or so and departed due to other obligations.
In walks Mark.
We played shows up and down the East Coast and West all across the country. We did well and some shows, and maybe not so well at others. Like Clint always said “We give the same whether it’s 3 or 3000!”.
AND WE DID.
Ahh, the stories that can be told. A good time, a good ride. Fast forward a couple years and Mark leaves the band due to, again, ‘other obligations’. In walks Willie. We rehearsed, got him up to speed and played out more. Then Willie of course had to depart due to, you guessed it, ‘other obligations’. Mark had the itch and his obligations were complete, he comes back to the band. We are a complete unit once again.
Then, the inevitable happens. Clints wife is pregnant. Then the double whammy, MY wife is pregnant. Well holy shit on a firestick. With 50% of the band having kids, it kinda put a crimp on things and we took a hiatus. 2 1/2 years later, we reunite to play a show at the County Line with The Reverend Horton Heat. Then followed up with the show you are now listening to at the Monkey Bar back in 2013.
Another 2 1/2 years later, August 21st, 2015 we decided for our 10 year Anniversary to do another show at the Monkey Bar and then stick a fork in it. That’s right folks; Super Swamper is now going down the river – never to come back. On behalf of me and the band, we want to thank each and every one of you for being the best fans a band could have. We love each of you.
Thanks for the ride!
Will, Clint, Todd and Mark
